In England there were women of colour like Indian princess Sophia Duleep Singh who worked alongside better known white suffragettes like Emmeline Pankhurst in the struggle for women’s right to vote in Britain for rights of women in India. Indian suffragettes, including Mrs Roy, Mrs Mukerjea and Mrs Bhola Nauth marched in the Empire Pageant section of the 1911 Women’s Coronation Procession of 17 June 1911 along with representatives from New Zealand, South Africa and the West Indies
