Dear Sir,

It is with pain and concern, for our organization, I am writing this letter to you. As per the news paper and other media reports, I understand that IMA is endorsing two food products of Pepsi. In this context I would like to draw your attention to the resolution of All India Medical Conference of 1928, December, in which IMA was formed.

"Resolved that an All India Medical Association be formed with the objective of looking after the interest of Medical Education, Public Health and Medical Profession in India and this body be duly registered under Act XXI/1860".

Our organization’s decision to endorse Pepsi products is in clear violation of our basic objectives.

So also, our decision to endorse Pepsi products is in clear violation of Code of Medical Ethics of MCI. As per 6.1 of MCI acts, "any recommendation, endorsement, certificate of any commercial product by a physician, group of physicians, institutions or organizations is unethical. As a life member of IMA, I am sure it is my right and privilege to be ethical also. So I request you to come out of the agreement at the earliest.

Thanking you,

Faithfully yours

Dr. Babu K.V,
SWC Member, IMA , Kerala
