As India enters into one of the most complex and unprecedented periods in its history, getting a clear picture of what’s happening is harder than ever. Media outlets, both foreign and Indian, have responded to funding shortages by focusing on newsroom debates and eyeball-grabbing sensationalism. Large corporates now directly influence news reporting. Clarity and depth are difficult to come by, so the India Study Group aims to provide that.

Every month, we connect the dots between the recent news and events. We release two data rich briefings, with links to additional information. Our briefings give you the long view, combining public information with perspectives drawn from ground experience and diverse professions:

India Briefing

This general briefing provides a snapshot, birds eye analysis of recent developments, along with identifying key trends and warning signs to watch out for.

Thematic Briefing

Each month, a specific briefing on an emerging topic will be released (e.g. administration and appointments under the new government, conflicts over land and natural resources, the Indian media).
