  • Pakistan: Ahmadiyas under attack need protection - statements by Amnesty International and AHRC

    3 February

Posted below are full texts of statements issued by Amnesty International and by Asian Human Rights Commission.

Pakistani authorities must do more to protect the Ahmaddiya community . . . The Ahamadiyya community, a minority religious community, is again facing systematic genocide from the militant religious groups in coming days particularly from the banned terrorist organizations that have made a joint strategy to force them to leave Pakistan. This campaign has been started from the garrison city of Rawalpindi, Punjab province, in the presence of heavy contingent of police, rangers and, of course, plain clothed men from notorious intelligence agency, the ISI.

  • India: Statement against violence on anti-nuclear protesters in Koodankulam

    by CNDP 3 February
On their way to attend talks with the Central Government Expert Panel, a group of activists agitating against the Koodankulam Nuclear Power Project in Tamil Nadu were attacked by a violent group. The miscreants are believed to be supporters of the local Hindu Munnani group. . . . We condemn this heinous act in strongest terms and demand that the violent miscreants should be brought to book.
