Based in Chennai, India, J. Sri Raman was a well known journalist and a peace activist who resolutely stood up secular ideas. He wrote regularly for US web journal Truthout. He also contributed to the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists, Chicago, US and the Japanese newspaper Chugoku Shimbun, Hiroshima. He contributed a fortnightly column to the Daily Times, Lahore, Pakistan. He also wrote for the Tribune, Chandigarh, The Hindu, Chennai and The Hindustan Times, Delhi, India. His book Flashpoint was published by Common Courage Press, USA. He was the convener of the Journalists Against Nuclear Weapons and the Movement Against Nuclear Weapons, Chennai. He was a member of the National Coordination Committee of India’s Coalition for Nuclear Disarmament and Peace. J Sri Raman died on the 8th of November 2011.
