Anti-Nuclear movement groups from across India, through the initiative of National Alliance of Anti-Nuclear movements came together in Bhopal for a two-days national conclave, and demanded the immediate scrapping of Chutka Nuclear Power Plant, and all other NPPs planned in India.

नेशलन एलायंस आफ़ एंटी-न्युक्लियर मूवमेंट्स की पहल पर पूरे देश में चल रहे तमाम परमाणु ऊर्जा विरोधी आंदोलनों का दो-दिवसीय राष्ट्रीय सम्मेलन भोपाल में 28 अक्टूबर 2018 को संपन्न हुआ। इस अवसर पर आयोजित प्रेस-वार्ता में इन सभी आंदोलनों ने एक स्वर में मध्य प्रदेश की चुटका परमाणु परियोजना समेत देश की सभी परमाणु ऊर्जा परियोजनाओं को निरस्त करने की मांग की। उन्होंने परमाणु संयंत्रों में हुई दुर्घटनाओं के भयावह दुष्प्रभावो से सबक लेने की अपील की। इन संगठनों ने यह भी कहा कि परमाणु खनिजों के खनन के दुष्परिणाम, संविधान के प्रावधानों का उल्लंघन करते हुए आदिवासियों के ज़मीनों पर अवैध कब्ज़े और उनकी आजीविका पर अमानवीय हमले अब सभी हदों को पार कर चुके हैं और देश की जनता अब इसे बर्दाश्त नहीं कर सकते।

There were three dramatic announcements on the evening of Friday 26th October 2018 from the Presidential Secretariat, which occurred in the following order: (a) the announcement of the withdrawal of the UPFA from the government; (b) the swearing-in of Mahinda Rajapaksa before President Maithripala Sirisena as the Prime Minister; and (c) the announcement that the President has informed Ranil Wickremesinghe in writing that he has been removed from the office of Prime Minister under Article 42(4).

While their right to ask for what they want to teach is part of their academic freedom but asking for removal of other books that they do not agree with is Anti-academic and destructive. Universities are meant for teaching and debating diversified ideas, concepts. Hundreds of thoughts must clash there. Universities are not theological institutes where only one religious ideas are taught.
