Every few weeks I get a phone call or text message informing me that yet another journalist, political activist or someone hyperactive on social media has gone missing. From past experience I know that they have most likely been picked up by one of the secret agencies. I also know that when they return they’ll be changed people.
Agencies charged with the upkeep and protection of Delhi’s historic buildings find little thrill in their job. They see heritage as a burden, are impervious to its magic.
Authorities need to protect academic freedom, which is crucial to the right to education. Violence and hooliganism in the name of nationalism must cede ground to civil debate on Campuses. Violent actions by right wing student organisation ABVP on campuses must be halted
