The Peoples Union for Civil liberties has filed a petition challenging the arbitrary and unlawful action of the Election Commission of India (EC) in directing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the entire country, with immediate enforcement in Bihar, only months before the scheduled elections.

Must seek a rethinking and restructuring of the United Nations as a fair and egalitarian organisation of equal and identical members with no big brothers, bullies, or veto powers but with an effective World Police Force and truly functional World Court.

Hindu nationalism, also known as Hindutva, is a transnational far-right political ideology grounded in Hindu supremacy. In India, Hindu nationalists advocate a strict form of ethnonationalism that reimagines the secular Indian republic as an exclusively Hindu nation and seeks to relegate religious minorities

Instead, a path of unilateral military action against Pakistan, ostensibly to hit terrorist bases with a pious hope that it would not escalate, was adopted. It is equally unfortunate that all the opposition parties went along with the government on this course of action. Even the Left parties with whom there is a tradition associated of anti-war stance, went along with the Government’s option.

We feel it is important to position ourselves clearly against jingoism and war mongering, asking who benefits and who stands to lose from wars. We must critically analyze the foreign policy setbacks in the wake of terror attacks & war, understand the intertwined politics of Pahalgam & Operation Sindoor, challenge hate & misinformation campaigns of mainstream media, resist use of water as tool of war and stop criminalization of sane voices prioritizing political over militarized responses, as a long term way forward.
