The central danger to the Indian polity is communalism, and it works via ideas and prejudice, not organisational affiliation. If our highest judges wittingly or otherwise provide barely- disguised legitimation for criminal deeds, our Constitution is doomed. An ill planned law suit challenging Astrology is dismissed by the Bombay High court. The Public Interest litigation or PIL was filed by Janhit Manch against fraudulent practice of astrology, vastu, feng sui, reiki, numerology, tarot, palmistry, etc. It is a great tragedy that activists dont plan seriously and ambitiously. Now what could have been a precedent setting legal challenge has instead set the clock back by the judiciary’s approbation of superstition and sham.
