Anhad expresses its deep shock and anguish over the sad and unfortunate killings of nine young boys in the last two weeks in Jammu and Kashmir, where the Valley has seen a sharp escalation of police and para military atrocities, leading to many deaths and injuries. Scores of youngsters and innocent people have been killed. Even a brazen case of yet another fake encounter at the hands of a rogue army official has come to light. These acts of brutality, in complete violation of the law of the land and constitutional rights of the people, have resulted in mass outrage and alienation of large sections of the civilian population in Kashmir.

The People’s Tribunal feels morally obligated to make this statement today. Sustained alliances between local communities and IPTK have enabled us to bear witness to the escalating conditions induced by militarized governance, and the severity of psychosocial dimensions of oppression in Indian-administered Kashmir. From our work since being instituted in April 2008, from the reports and briefs we have authored, investigations we have undertaken and are in the process of completing, we find it ethically imperative to comment on the direction in which the Governments of India and Jammu and Kashmir, and the Indian Armed Forces, appear to be headed, and the consequences they will likely effect.

Alirajpur today. The immensely corrupt nexus of authorities and touts has
derailed implementation the rehabilitation of the Sardar Sarovar Project
oustees and has denied the affected, their rightful to agricultural land. This
large scale corruption in the whole process has led to a loss worth crores of
rupees to the treasury of the Indian State.

When citizens are massacred and abused on the status of their religious identity, then the slide into bestiality is no longer a heartbeat away. It is firmly among us. At this point only unmitigated public outrage and a matching state response puts us back in the league of the civilized and therefore, human.

Prevarication is dodging facing the truth. Prevaricating in matters of national interest where the unity and integrity of the country is involved is even worse treachery. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh has hallmark of this prevarication. The RSS has spawned numerous organizations as a tactic in their strategy to have India as a Hindu Rashtra with minorities existing, if at all, at their sufferance.
