The IWIJ comprising of Uma Chakravarti, Usha Ramanathan, Vrinda Grover, Anuradha Bhasin Jamwal, Seema Misra and Dr. Ajita - are conducting a case watch on the Shopian rape and murder of 2 women in May 2009.
The first case watch report was released by IWIJ on 10Dec 2009, at New Delhi
A Padayatra in Chhattisgarh planned by Himanshu Kumar of the Vanavasi Chetna Ashram in Dantewada district was due to start today (the 14 December 2009) to resotre peace and create an atmosphere where justice can be ensured by instilling confidence among the people to stop migrating from the area in the face of atrocities being committed on them by security forces, SPOs and anti-constitutional forces like Salwa Judum. The Govt. of Chhattisgarh has moved its machinery to block this march for peace.
