GM food poses a new and serious threat to biodiversity, human health and local economy. It is based on outdated science that does not take cognizance of the complexity of the DNA, proteins, RNA system within a given cytoplasm and clings to the dogma of one-gene-one-protein (while, in human body for example, there are hardly 40000 genes, there are over a lakh different proteins).

Full text of the 1029-page report of the Liberhan Commission, which was tabled in India’s Parliament on Nov. 24, 2009. The Liberhan Commission probed the demolition of the Babri Mosque on December 6, 1992 by the the Hindu right wing organisations.

We, the undersigned people’s organisations, social movements, trade
unions and concerned citizens, submit this memorandum to the Government to draw your attention to the several urgent and so far unaddressed concerns about the climate crisis and the Indian Government’s response to them, especially in light of the upcoming 15th Conference of the Parties (COP) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) at Copenhagen from 7-18 December 2009.

We welcome the reports that the Government of India and the CPI (Maoist) are agreeable to the idea of talks. In the present situation talks are the only way to come to a resolution of any problem, however difficult it may be.
We reiterate that the talks should be unconditional, and that they should be held at the central level. We propose the following steps to expedite the dialogue:

Justice Liberhan submitted its report to the Government of India. The
Commission was set up 10 days after the demolition of Babri Masjid and it
took 17 long years and 48 extensions before it submitted the report on June
30th of this year (2009). Babri Masjid–Ramjanambhoomi controversy dominated Indian politics for about a decade and became the main issue and it was so controversial and rooted in communal politics that it polarized Indian people along religious lines for the first time in post-independence India and since it was raised for riding to political power and BJP did rise to political power towards the end of nineties of the last century.
