A national-level meeting of the All India Loading & Unloading Workers Federation (AITUC) was held on 16th July 2023 at AITUC Bhawan, Delhi. The meeting was presided over by Mr. S. Balaraju from Telangana who is also a national president of the All India Loading & Unloading Workers Federation. Com. Sukumar Damle, National Secretary (AITUC) and General Secretary of the Federation was also present.
The President Mr. S. Balaraju insisted upon strengthening the work of federation amongst loading & unloading workers, working in various sectors in all the states. The demand of constituting Mathadi (Headload Workers) Welfare Board in all states like Maharashtra and Kerala model should be demanded in all states.
The central government’s policy of weakening the Public Distribution System (PDS) in the country affects not only those dependent on PDS but also the loading & unloading workers. And so it was decided to circulate a detailed note regarding the policy of phasing out the public distribution system and it’s effects on workers & public at large.
