Then from the Hindu side came 16 witnesses ( covering 2735 pages), then 3 more witnesses ( 293 pages) then 20 witnesses ( 2662 pages). There were 3 further lots of Hindu witnesses divided into 3 witnesses ( 701 pages), 3 more ( 454 pages) and at the end 4 more ( 423 pages).
The part of the case dealing with the ASI excavation produced 8 witnesses for the Muslims ( 2216 pages) and 4 witnesses for the Hindus ( 1209 pages).

An elaborate charade has begun with the rolling out of the first Aadhaar unique identity (UID) numbers by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress chairperson Sonia Gandhi in a tribal district of Maharashtra. The 12-digit number for each citizen is supposed to achieve pilferage-free delivery of services to the underprivileged.

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI)’s ambitious plan of issuing a unique biometric-enabled number, innocuously called ‘aadhaar’, to every Indian resident has finally begun to generate a debate on citizen-State relations, privacy, financial implications, and operational
practicalities.

An all–India women’s fact finding team of four members went to Gajapthi district in Orissa on September 30 – October 1 to investigate into the alleged rape, on February 12, 2010, of a 20 year old adivasi woman by security and police forces.

Unless Hindu fundamentalism is addressed, India will continue on its path toward ethno-democracy. After RSS cadres were arrested following the Malegaon case, Hindu fundamentalism is firmly back on the agenda of public debate.
