Uttarakhand again saw a catastrophe. Local residents of Raini village, goat grazing herders and labourer working in the (13.5 MW) Rishi Ganga Power Project have been declared dead or missing in the sudden flood in Rishi Ganga in Chamoli district.

8th Feb: The recent order of the Allahabad High Court, passed by the Division Bench of Justices Ramesh Sinha and Rajeev Singh, dated 2nd February, 2021, concluding that the Uttar Pradesh Govt had no legal grounds to issue notices to large numbers of farmers and activists, preventing them from participating in peaceful protests is a significant landmark in upholding people’s constitutional right to protest and redress against whimsical administrative interference in the same. The court order clearly establishes the arbitrariness and violation of principles of natural justice in the process of notices issued by the UP Government on and after 19th January 2021, in the attempt to suppress farmers’ participation in the protests organized on 26th January.

As expected the troll army has gone all out trending #andolanjivi and attacking social activists. PM Modi habitually instead of dealing with serious issues, presently the three farm laws, coins new adjectives to malign all dissent in this country. It seems the earlier nomenclatures invented by the larger Sangh network to attack dissenting voices – sickularist, urban naxals, anti- national, deshdrohi, tukde-tukde gang, khan market gang, terrorists, khalistani etc, have become stale , so a need to coin a new word to energize a fresh round of attacks and give fodder to the screeching anchors of the Godi media and bhakts.
